| Well... the division breaks were publicized for the 2008 NSC.
Division 1: 1750+ Division 2: 1500-1749 Division 3: 1300-1499 Division 4: 1100-1299 Division 5: 900-1099 Division 6: under 900
There's no "playing up" if you're within 100 points (like at small tournaments). And they look at the previous year or more to determine what your "peak" rating is and base your qualification on that.
My peak rating... 1491
What does that mean?
I'D BE THE FRICKIN' TOP SEED IN DIVISION 3
Don't think for a moment that the National are exempt from my new mantra/rule:
SEEDED LOW OR I DON'T GO
I've got only ONE tourney between now and the cut off date of June 6, possibly two, if I qualify for the CNSC - Canadian National Scrabble Championships. If I can hit 1500, fine.
Otherwise... screw it. I'm NOT going.
Yes, I know... I'm a cry baby. But I've spent the last year seeded high tourney after tourney after tourney. And no, I don't enjoy Scrabble anymore. It's not just about playing and having fun. Right now, I care too much about my rating to be a top seed AGAIN.
In previous NSC's, the breaks have been 1800, 1600, 1400, 1200... with that system I would have been in the bottom half of Division 3, not the top of it.
There. I've said it. |
