So here's the deal...

I somehow got subscribed to some "premium text message" service. I was receiving trivia questions every couple days by text message. And as it turns out Fido was dinging me TWO DOLLARS every time I would get one of these (regardless of whether or not I even responded).

So this is the reason why I was running out of airtime minutes within a week for the last two months and having to buy extra pre-paid minutes.

The customer service representative I had from Fido today (thanks Matt... I always make sure I get a person's name) was really helpful. He helped me figure out how to stop getting those...

Heck, he even helped me figure out how to set up my phone (roaming) for when I'm in the US... mind you, long distance would cost me $2.50 a minute plus air time... but at least I'd have that luxury if I were in the US and absolutely needed it. I actually figured that I didn't have any service at all (except to call 9-1-1) but I actually do.

So all that being said, it sure looks like pre-paid is still my best bet.

Yeah, I pay more for long distance, but the amount I'd use it... it's still going to serve me well...
